Settings that print well

0.8–1.2 mmcutting wall
12–15 mmcutter height
3–5 mmgrip rim width
2 mmgrip rim height
0 mmfloor (open cutter)
0.2 mmlayer height

Step by step

  1. Create the shape: draw it with the Pen or Freehand tool, place a Heart or Star from the library, or Import image and trace an outline.
  2. Select it and set Form to Outline wall. Set Wall thickness to 1 mm, Height to 14 mm and Floor to 0.
  3. Press Ctrl+D to duplicate it, then type the original's Position values into the copy so they line up exactly. On the copy, set Wall thickness to 4 mm and Height to 2 mm. This is the rim you press on.
  4. Group the two parts (Ctrl+G) so they move together.
  5. Export STL and print with the rim side on the bed.
Food contact: typical home-printed plastics aren't certified food-safe, and layer lines can trap dough and bacteria. Use a food-contact-rated filament where possible, keep contact brief, wash by hand, and consider wrapping dough in plastic film when cutting.

Questions

How thin should the cutting edge be?

About 0.8–1.2 mm, which is two or three lines from a 0.4 mm nozzle. Thinner edges can break; thicker ones tear soft dough.

Can I add inner details like eyes or lines?

Yes. Draw inner lines with the Pen tool and give them an Outline wall form with a lower height (8–10 mm), so they press a pattern rather than cut through.

Why make the rim a separate part?

The thin wall gives a clean cut and the wide rim spreads the pressure on your hand. Grouping keeps them together while you edit.

Is PLA dishwasher-safe?

No. Most PLA softens with dishwasher heat. Wash by hand in warm, not hot, water.
